Ezekiel 47:12 Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail. Every month they will bear fruit, because the water from the sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves for healing."
Genesis 1:29-30 Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground. Everything that has the breath of life in it--I give every green plant for food." And it was so.
Some people wonder if Christians can use herbs to aid in their wellness. Well, the bible says, "I give every green plant for food." We are sons of God and we have been given dominion and authority over the earth. That includes the animals, the weather, things that fly, things that creep and even plants. The use of tinctures has been around for millennia. Tinctures are concentrated herbal extracts made by soaking the bark, berries, leaves (dried or fresh), or roots from one or more plants in alcohol, glycerin or vinegar. The soaking solution pulls out the active ingredients in the plant parts, concentrating them as a liquid. Most of us are familiar with tinctures, teas and perfumes, but there is a thin line between these practices and others such as smudging or charging crystals.
We as believers have been set apart by the Holy Spirit that lives within us and it is very important that we don't blur our beliefs and practices with those of the world. It is by no accident that herbs and plants have essential vitamins and minerals that promote health and wellness. It is my belief that eating herbs and plants or taking vitamins to fortify your body is necessary. However, we should not under any circumstance be smudging. Smudging is when dried sage is burned to cleanse a space of negativity and to invite positive energy. As Christians we know that the spirit that lives within us is greater that he that is in the world. We cast out demons with the authority given to us by the blood of Jesus. Let our praise, thanksgiving and worship be a sweet incense to the Lord. Psalm 100:5 Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and bless His name. Sage goes great in thanksgiving stuffing, but that's all it's good for.
