Daniel 10:2-3 When this vision came to me, I, Daniel, had been in mourning for three whole weeks. All that time I had eaten no rich food. No meat or wine crossed my lips, and I used no fragrant lotions until those three weeks had passed.

Prayer and fasting postures us to hear from God. As we say no to our fleshly desires for sugar and meat we discipline or minds, bodies and souls to align with the will of our spirit.  We humble ourselves praise and worship and speak Gods presence. Fasting doesn't force God to speak, it quiets your flesh and prepares your spirit to listen. God will speak in his own divine time. It's a beautiful act of love and devotion to our Lord.

3 Benefits Of Adult Coloring

creation over consumption

Often times the worries of our world build up. We go through the entire day putting out fires, jumping through hoops and just trying to survive. When you finally get home you still have to make dinner and spend time with the family. After all that you are exhausted. It's easy to just scroll through social media, shop on Amazon or zone out on Netflix. Consume, consume and consume more empty, meaningless, creativity killing garbage. But remember, we are the light of the world. We were created to create, we download revelation directly from the Father. Even in its most silly form, creativity starts and grows from just setting the intention to create something. Even if that something is adding color to a page you have to start somewhere. Creativity is like faith, a little will go a long way.

Clears your mind to think

Have you ever felt like your mind is cluttered or you can't hear yourself think? Are you looking to clear your mind in a simple straight forward way? Coloring has the same effects on the mind and body as meditation. Neuropsychologist have found that like mediation, coloring encourages the mind to focus on the present moment. Focusing on the easy and simple task of coloring encourages the brain to stop processing complex stressful situations and relax. Your heart rate and brain waves slow, and it has a calming effect on your entire body. This is when we as believers can carefully listen to hear the still small voice of the Holy Spirit as he drops thoughts, revelations and ideas into our spirt.

reduces Stress and anxiety

Coloring brings us back to the days of our childhood. When life was easy and all we worried about was getting our favorite snack. Picking colors, looking at shapes and angles and making decisions that are only based on how them make you feel. There are no negative consequences and no wrong answers. The sky can be pink, the grass can be blue, and you are free to think outside the box. This activity of freedom allows you to create something to be proud of in a short amount of time and replaces any negative, doubtful internal conversations with feel good positivity and endless possibilities.

Tips for creating your coloring space

1. Turn off all other distractions. Put down the phone and turn off the tv. You want to create a peaceful relaxing environment. If you like you can play some soft worship, jazz or classical music in the background. You might also enjoy sounds of nature or water as well.

2. Grab a snack. If you haven't eaten dinner yet make sure you have some water and food or a light snack on hand. You don't want to interrupt your relaxing creative flow to run to the kitchen. Now is also the perfect time to sip on some wine or indulge in your favorite treat as well. You can make it extra special by creating a party platter with a variety if finger foods and snacks.

3. Invite other people to join you. Make it a family affair and ask the kids and your spouse to join you. You can all color the same page or maybe you can set up a mini art studio where everyone can work on their own creative activity.

4. Set your intentions from the beginning. The Bible says 1 Peter 5:7 "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." before you sit down and color a single line. Tell the Lord, Father I cast all my cares on you. I know you love me and your spirit lives within me. I am more than a conqueror and greater is your spirit that lives in me than any circumstance, situation or problem of this world"
